Spoiler alert: it survived the impact and it still works

It's always entertaining to watch drop tests on YouTube and see how some phones react when smashing the ground in slow motion, but it's a lot more painful to do that on your own and with your very own personal phone.

That's what happened to reddit user siebenohn, who dropped his phone on the highway without even knowing it at 100 km/h. For Americans, that's about 62 miles per hour.

In case you're wondering how it happened, it looks like it's actually easier to drop you phone on the highway when cruising at such a high speed than you might be thinking.

As he writes in his post, he was riding his motorcycle back home, and the phone most likely slipped out of the pocket and dropped on the emergency lane.

“It still had 18 percent of battery left”

Now here's what happened next in fast forward: Find my Phone, device found about 6 km from the house, quick search in the area, nothing, another search the next day, phone found on the emergency lane.

“I pull over into the emergency lane and walk back to find my phone laying face down on the asphalt. Its roughed up pretty bad and the back has half popped off, but miraculously the screen is still intact,” the lucky (still) Lumia 930 owner writes.

And it's no surprise that the screen is intact. Lumia 930 comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, so it can withstand pretty severe shocks. But a drop on the highway at 100 km/h is something beyond severe.

Now the best thing of all is not that the man actually found his phone, but that the device was still working. And it still had some 18 percent of battery left, as he explains.

Needless to say, this story falls in the “do not try this at home.” But if you do try this at home, don't forget to shoot the whole thing, so that everyone else can watch it when it's all over.
