Microsoft is adding more visual tweaks to Windows 10

One of the things that Microsoft is now working on is adding more visual tweaks to Windows 10, the company's new operating system that's supposed to impress not only in terms of performance but also as far as the user interface is concerned.

The next Windows 10 build is expected to bring some improvements in this regard, including transparency for the Start menu and the Start screen, but it turns out that the company is working to introduce what appear to be customizable levels of transparency.

The two screenshots we have here show the Start screen with full transparency, allowing you to see the windows running behind it and thus adding a small visual tweak to the operating system.

At this point, it's not yet clear whether the same transparency effect is planned for the Start menu as well, but this is very likely, given the fact that Microsoft is working to make both features more visually appealing for the final version of Windows 10.

These new transparency effects are expected to be added in the next Windows 10 build, but right now it's not yet clear when this is projected to arrive.

Customizable transparency and new animations

In addition to new transparency effects for the Start menu and the Start screen, Microsoft is also working on new animations when launching the menu.

Back in October, when Microsoft released the first Windows 10 Technical Preview build, this version came with a very simple Start menu that popped out when clicking the Start button, but Redmond explained that it wanted the whole experience to be significantly improved by adding new animations to make the transition easier.

These animations are very likely to be part of the final version of Windows 10, but they're not yet ready for the Technical Preview build, so do not expect them to be included in the testing version scheduled for March.

Windows 10 is set to see daylight in the second half of 2015, while RTM should be reached in June.
