Users create new concept imagining a revamped file manager

Windows 10 indeed comes with plenty of features, but there are still many apps within the operating system that are yet to receive a significant number of improvements, so designers across the world have used this opportunity to create their very own interpretations.

The photo you see here imagines a new version of File Explorer that has tabs and a slightly revamped UI, which hundreds of users have voted for on Microsoft's UserVoice feedback collecting platform.

At the same time, this concept comes with clipboard management options added to the action bar, improved “Sort” and “View” icons in the status bar, and a Recycle Bin shortcut placed in the Navigation pane, all of which the designer claims should make working with files a lot easier.

What's more, he claims that the whole design is based on Spartan, the new browser that will be included in Windows 10 and which will replace Internet Explorer at some point in the future.

“Microsoft, take notice”

At this point, this particular suggestion has more than 600 votes, but it's very likely to get more in the coming weeks, as it was only published in late January.

Interestingly, many users do not necessarily want this design to be implemented into Windows 10, but they call for Microsoft to at least have a look at it in order to understand that File Explorer needs to be improved, just like all the other apps that are part of the operating system.

Adding tab support should really be a priority for Microsoft, if it wants users to consider File Explorer a top file managing solution, and while the company hasn't said anything until now about such a feature, there's no doubt that it's at least considering adding it.

Windows 10 is expected to launch in the fall of 2015, so there's still plenty of time to see new features added to the operating system, but it's still unclear if a revamped File Explorer has any chances to be included.
