Coca Cola and other carbonated drinks remain extremely popular in the world, despite the fact that more and more studies indicate that drinking them on a daily basis can be very harmful for your health. The main reason for that is the large quantity of sugar contained in even the smallest bottle, but there are other dangerous chemicals added in the mix, like preservatives.

This following clip aims to shed some light into the question of what happens if you boil a bottle of Coca Cola, the world's most popular carbonated drink. This is an experiment that is easy to do in your own home, although it's not advisable for several reasons.

One would be that you need proper ventilation in your kitchen, otherwise you would risk smoking up the place and even risk starting a fire. The other reason would be that you're going to totally ruin one of your pots by boiling down an entire bottle of Coke in it. And not many people are ready to sacrifice a pot for a one-time experiment.

So, the idea is that you shouldn't try this at home because someone else has already done it. You can see the results of the experiment in the video below. The outcome of boiling just a 500ml (half a liter) of Coca Cola is pretty amazing and gross at the same time.

After the water boils down in the pot, you're going to be left with his disgusting black goo that has the consistency of tar. But don't think that it's just a teaspoonful, it's significantly more than that.

As the guy in the video points out with his extremely bad Russian accent, the label says 55 grams of sugar, but let's face it, few people know just how much sugar that is. But if you take a look at the final quantity of black goo stuck to the bottom of the pot once the Coke boils down, you're going to get a nauseating feeling.

And just to drive the point of the video home, the Crazy Russian Hacker, the guy who made the experiment, decided to boil a 2 liter bottle of Coke with similarly disgusting results. In the end, he gets an even bigger quantity of black goo stuck to the bottom of an even bigger pan and we're left to wonder if that is the same thing we ingest each time we drink a bottle of Coca Cola.

Before you watch the video, a few words of caution: the guy doing the experiment is Russian and has a very bad accent, which is going to make some things difficult to understand. Also, there is some strong language in the clip that could offend some people. Viewer discretion is advised. And don't try this at home!
