14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has already announced the availability of OCR search indexing in SkyDrive and Windows 8.1, and since the latter is just around the corner, the company has created a video demonstration of the feature in action.
The new option is fully automatic, so you only need to take pictures with your phone’s or tablet’s camera and save them in your Camera Roll folder.
SkyDrive and Windows 8.1 automatically analyze the transferred pictures and extract the text from the picture, saving all content in the metadata section of the file.
The text can be then accessed via the SkyDrive sidebar, thus giving users the power to easily read or copy it with the press of a key.
