Destiny developer Bungie is also releasing a companion app to go with their upcoming online first-person shooter, offering an experience that's more in line with what the future has to offer.

Although the possibility to make a quick phone call could have averted many movie and game catastrophes, the ubiquitous nature of a handheld communications computer is not lost on the former Halo developer.

Although the company has been reluctant to offer the full scoop on the official companion app, a player from the recent alpha test has captured the app's user interface and some of its features, and has revealed the screenshots for the entire world to see.

Gamer Vrumpt has posted a screenshot gallery showing the Destiny companion app in action, with its multitude of menus, statistics-tracking features and library of enemies, weapons and gadgets.

The app will sync with your gameplay to track your kill/death ratio, progress through various missions, statistics with all the weapons and much more, including maps for all the hotspots to facilitate your navigation through Destiny's world.

Destiny is slated for a September 9 release, for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms, and a beta test will take place sometime in July.
