A student created this amazing prosthesis for a friend of his

A certain young man by the name of Evan Kuester is currently studying for his Master’s Degree in Architecture at the California College of the Arts, but he is also adding a specialty in digital fabrication.

His life seems to be going pretty well, but there is one dour spot on the tapestry of his existence: the fact that his friend Ivania Castillo is missing her left hand from above the wrist.

He actually got the idea of 3D printing a prosthetic hand for her as soon as the two met, but he didn't want to just take something off the net and press the print button. Even though there are plenty of successful and decent looking, not to mention cheap, 3D printed prosthetic options.

So he set about creating his own version, and the result is something to be admired, though he did discard one design before he settled on the final version.

The arm not only looks great but also has internal lighting, which can be a real hit during outings. After all, a prosthetic hand is bound to draw attention, so why not make it the good kind?

No word on whether or not he will create other prosthetics in the future. He certainly has what it takes, but in the end he appears to be focused more on architecture.
