14 DAY TRIAL // Sometime in late 2010, several reports on a “Friends” reunion movie arriving in theaters in 2011 were making the rounds. Even fans who had long lost hope of seeing their favorite 6 actors reunited on the same set again fell for them, but in an expected twist of fate, they proved to be completely unfounded.
Since then, we’ve had some mini-reunions but never like the one Jimmy Kimmel managed to put together, because he also went through the pain of replicating half of the kitchen that was featured so heavily on the show.
He also had Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow join him on set and reprise the roles they played on “Friends,” Rachel, Monica and Phoebe, even though the direction of the story was somewhat unexpected.
Sorry to say, but Chandler and Joey died when Marcel attacked and bit them, and they got rabies. Marcel is the cute monkey that Ross had for a while on the original series, and which he had to give away when it reached maturity because it kept humping everything.
In this surprise Kimmel reunion, Kimmel himself got to play Ross.
The sketch isn’t as funny as it probably sounded on paper, but for true “Friends” fans it’s special because not only does it bring the three ladies together again, but it does so in such a familiar setting. Enjoy!
