SOFTECH, by Germinara Francesco, has released a free Mac utility that tells you whether or not Mountain Lion can be installed on your system. The interface is extremely intuitive, and it offers a link to the app compatibility list hosted by roaringapps.com.

MLCompatibilityCheck 1.0 answers the question “does my Mac support OS X 10.8?” It takes a quick look at your system configuration and, with a single click, the utility answers Yes or No.

The interface holds a list of Macintosh configurations that Apple says are supported by OS X Mountain Lion. An extra button is there for people looking to see which of their favorite apps work on Mountain Lion. The click takes you to roaringapps where you can review the status for hundreds of Mac apps under Lion (OS X 10.7) and Mountain Lion.
