Aussie Sonny Dickson got his hands on some tantalizing images

A new set of images purporting to show Apple’s final iPhone 6 design is making the rounds today. The photos are tantalizing, but we’re unsure what to make of them.

Aussie Sonny Dickson is the person who published these photos. He writes on his leak-packed blog, “As shown in the pictures below, it will be definitely thinner than the current iPhone 5S.”

“I’m not 100% sure this is the real back housing, but I’ll be updating it as I get more information regarding it.”

We’re not 100% sure these are real either. The photos look a lot like the concepts made by designers Federico Ciccarese and Martin Hajek. Both designers use special glow + blur effects to give the appearance of natural lighting, and these photos look eerily similar to both of these guys’ works.

MacRumors were skeptical too, so they sifted through their forums for user reactions to these photos. As expected, some were utterly unimpressed.

“A few readers have pointed out why they believe these images to be fake: repeating textures, wrong font, copied texture,” the rumor site reports.

We’ve fired off a couple of emails to the aforementioned designers for more clarification on the matter.

As we wait for their reply, here’s what Ciccarese tells the aforementioned rumor site.

He reportedly “believes the iPhone in the images is 4.7 inches diagonally and 2.3 inches wide, the same width as the existing iPhone 5s.”

It would be utterly disappointing to see Apple further increase the height of its iPhone but not the width, leading to even more jokes around the web about an added row of apps (like it happened with the iPhone 5).

We’ll have more on this for you shortly. In the meanwhile, you’re more than welcome to chime in with your own impressions. The comments section awaits below.

Update: Looks like the leak has been debunked. Dutch designer Martin Hajek confirms the photos are based on his work.
