If you want a Windows notebook, now's the time to get one

Windows 8.1 tablets that cost $100 / €78 aren't such a shock anymore, as companies like Toshiba and HP have proven all too well. But what if you still prefer the good old notebook factor?

For those of you who can’t go about their daily business without a keyboard, listen up. Remember that ASUS launched a Chromebook killer back in November, called the X205TA? The laptop initially sold for $199 / €159, which is a very advantageous price in itself.

Then a few weeks later, the Microsoft Store slashed the price off the same model, offering it to customers for a delicious $179 / €142.

But if you’re still wondering if the ASUS X205TA is worth your buck, I’ll bring to your attention the fact that BestBuy is currently selling the notebook for as little as $99 / €78.

Yes, you heard me right. For the same price, you could be getting the HP Stream 7 or Toshiba Encore Mini tablets, but if your heart is set on a laptop, you’d better go grab this now, while the notebook is still in stock.

To remind you, the ASUS X205TA is an 11.6-inch device coming with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution that draws power from an Intel Atom quad-core processor fitted with 2GB of RAM.

So are you ready to start your Christmas shopping earlier?

UPDATE: Sorry folks, the laptop is currently sold out online. But there's hope of picking one up in brick-and-mortar locations, if you live in the US.
