Carlos Perez Naval started photographing at age 4

Photography is an art so it knows no limits, even in terms of age. A international contest entitled Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year actually encourages young photographers to pick up the camera and give it their best shot.

That’s exactly what 9-year old Carlos Perez Naval did and won the hearts of the jury presiding over the contest with his “Stinger in the Sun” photograph (as seen at Boing Boing).

The young artist started taking pictures with a point-and-shoot when he was 4, but since then he upgraded to a Nikon D300 and he’s always on the look-out for better lens.

Singer in the Sun has been produced with the D300 working in concert with a 28-300mm lens for the background and 105mm f/2.8 for the scorpion at f.10, 1/320 and ISO 320 and low flash.

With this shot Naval managed to beat kids twice his age, which is really impressive. The scorpion shot is far from being the only exciting work from his portfolio and you can check out some of them in the gallery below.

Or you can take a look at his personal website where he has posted a bunch of pictures from the award ceremony. We’ll have to keep an eye on the little fellow!
