As IT players seem to have fallen silent in terms of product launches, with notable exceptions, more attention is being paid to the financial rumors.

This time we are looking at the notebook market, or perhaps we should say that Digitimes looked into the state of ODMs (original design manufacturers).

ODMs are companies who build products according to plans received from brand vendors.

Quanta Computer, Wistron and Inventec are the most important ones from Taiwan.

Long story short, they believe, and hope, to ship 10& more devices compared to the second quarter.

The three are believed to have suffered a decline of 10% in July, with the exception of Wistron who got hit with 20%. They hope to rebound in August and September though.

Nevertheless, it is Q4 that everyone is looking forward to. Once the year is over, the second half of the year could account for 53-55% of the year's total.
