In late October, we reported that Google was in the process of deciding which partner to take on to build the next-generation Nexus 7.

It appears that the search giant has three pretenders to the throne, HTC, LG and the maker of the last two Nexus models, ASUS.

Now a new report coming via Taipei Times claims that ASUS hasn't abandoned the idea of taking up the partnership with Google again in order to produce the next Nexus 7. On the contrary, the manufacturer is hoping to maintain the “tradition.” Company CEO Jerry Shen explains that ASUS is in the talks with Google concerning the development of the next-gen slate.

On the other hand, the company is looking to expand in all areas and plans to introduce new tablets, notebooks and Chromebooks models in the year to come.
