Eager to make sure it continues to lead the PC industry, Lenovo has launched a new ThinkPad laptop, called ThinkPad S431 and equipped with something that other laptops lack.

That something is the OneLink technology, which allows users to use a single cable to connect the ThinkPad OneLink Dock, which has dedicated video, extra USB 3.0 ports and Gigabit Ethernet.

OneLink technology also powers the system without extra assistance.

"The progressive design of our ThinkPad S431 will help small businesses impress their customers. We pack a punch behind that style, however, as we are committed to delivering genuine substance," said Jerry Paradise, executive director, Think Business Group.

"The ThinkPad S431 offers an intuitive Windows 8 experience with the power needed to accelerate productivity."

Lenovo's ThinkPad S431 has a very thin bezel and, according to the press release, fits a 14-inch LCD screen in a 13-inch frame.

The internal specifications are along the same lines as those of other laptops, with an Intel CPU, varying RAM and storage options, etc.

Still, the CPU, at least, should be 15% faster than those of previous-generation ThinkPads.

Speaking of specs, the newcomer also gets a sand blasted and anodized aluminum LCD cover (silver or graphite black color, smooth to the touch) and a five-button clickpad (glass surface for less clutter).

Basically, the new mobile personal computer covers all the technological bases and looks sleek and clean to boot.

Other things worth mentioning are the six-row backlit keyboard (with Windows 8 optimized shortcut keys) and the Windows 8 gesture support (both on the screen and touch pad).

The starting price of the ThinkPad Edge E431 laptop is of $509/€509, but top spec options (8GB RAM, 500 GB storage) will demand more. A ThinkPad Edge E531 model should be up for sale as well.
