The entire kitchen of a model house in Kansas was stolen on Sunday night, local police reports. Employees at the Clayton Homes location in South Wichita arrived at work on Monday morning to discover that all the upscale appliances, wood cabinets and even the sink were missing.

According to police officers, the thieves stripped the entire kitchen and got away with pretty much everything that was included in one of the store's model units: cabinets, counters, appliances, and the sink.

Clayton Homes General Manager Kevin McCracken says the theft most likely occurred between 9 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday, adding that the model unit trashed by thieves was nearly ready for display.

“It's very disappointing. We had hoped to have this thing ready to show to the public within a couple of days,” he says, as reported by KWCH.

Police suspects that more than one person was behind the burglary, as the thieves took everything they could find, including a side-by-side refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, a vent hood, and several wood cabinets.

The damage has been estimated at several thousand dollars.
