Thief, the upcoming reboot of the classic franchise from Eidos Montreal, will look better on the PC platform than on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One next-gen consoles, according to developer Eidos Montreal.

The Thief series gained cult status back in the early 2000s, when it appeared on quite a few platforms and made protagonist Garrett one of the most impressive anti-heroes in gaming.

Currently, developer Eidos Montreal wants to reboot the whole series with a new vision that includes a fresh version of Garrett as well as a slightly darker iteration of his native City.

After hearing a bit more about the game and the fact that a special demonstration will be made at the VGX 2013 awards tomorrow, December 7, Eidos Montreal has talked about the different platforms and how the game will look on them.

In case you forgot, Thief will debut for the PC, PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, and Xbox One.

According to Eidos' Art Technical Director, Jean-Normand Bucci, the next-gen consoles are quite powerful and will benefit from new visual technologies.

"The new consoles are very strong, very powerful. They allow for much more than what a console gamer is used to. The gap between PC and next gen has massively reduced for sure," Bucci told DSOGaming. "The new consoles and high-end PC offer better frame rate, higher resolution, and many new features along with DX11 support."

Even so, the PC edition of Thief will be the graphically superior one, as many visual features will be included in it, like support for AMD's Mantle tech, for example.

"The PC version will support all the graphical features of the next-gen consoles with numerous improvements, including even better anti-aliasing, higher resolution shadows, and support for multi-monitor," he continued. "Thief on PC will also be amongst the first batch of games that support AMD’s new Mantle API for high performance graphics."

Thief is out on February 25 in North America, and February 28 in Europe.
