The upcoming Thief reboot won't have any crazy magical things like zombies, but the game will retain some of the more mystical elements from the franchise, according to developer Eidos Montreal.

The Thief games have delivered some pretty interesting experiences over the years, putting master thief Garrett in some pretty over the top adventures that usually involved, to some degree, magical elements.

For the upcoming reboot of the series, developer Eidos Montreal wants to tone the outlandish things down and focuses more on realism than on magic.

As a result, the studio told Strategy Informer that it wouldn't have zombies in the game but that some mystical elements would be featured.

"It’s really important to see players connect with the games and the realistic believable aspect is important for this, but that said we are going to have some stuff that looks weird and is mystical," Producer Stephane Roy said.

The Thief reboot will appear in 2014 for PC and next-gen consoles.
