It seems that the recent acquirement of Eidos by Square Enix has spurned a newly found desire to start new projects by various studios from the large publisher. Such is the case with Eidos Montreal, which, although it already has Deus Ex 3 in the works, has just announced that Thief 4 was in the early development stage.

However, the news comes as no surprise to people who have been checking out gaming websites in the last few weeks, as the teaser campaign for the announcement of the game wasn't vague to say the least. Die-hard Thief fans have dissected every tidbit of information that has been given these past weeks and are certain that the very popular stealth franchise will sneak back into the public spotlight.

Even though the team at Eidos Montreal is very excited about this, it seems that players shouldn't expect the game to appear anytime soon as it is in the early stages of development and no concrete details can be given about almost anything in regard to this future title.

“We're in the early development stages for Thief 4, but this is an incredibly ambitious and exciting project for Eidos,” said Stéphane D'Astous, general manager at Eidos-Montréal. “While it's too early for us to offer any specific game details, right now we are focused on recruiting the very best talent to join the core team at the studio and help us make what we believe will be one of the most exciting games on the market.”

Those who want to take part in the creation of this game can apply for a job at the reputed developer and pitch in in order for this great franchise to return in all of its glory to fans around the world.

Until then though, look forward to new details about the game to be unveiled in the future.
