Reports about Mariah Carey being what many have called an “unreasonable” diva have been around for ages, if one is allowed the exaggeration. They were always infirmed either by the singer herself or her camp but, this time, it’s Mariah who confirms them for her fans gathered for her concert in Borgata on Saturday night, GateCrasher reports.

A few nights before, Mariah got up on stage in Madison Square in New York and, more or less jokingly, asked her stuff to come fluff her hair and retouch her lipstick. On the January 2 concert date, she dropped all pretenses at being funny and just admitted that her reputation was that of a diva because, well, she was one. And with good reason, she further said, as cited by the aforementioned report.

“Mariah Carey had service fit for a queen at her Borgata concert on Saturday night – and rightfully so. In between belting out an endless stream of hits at the Atlantic City hot spot, Mimi had stagehands bring out a chaise, retouch her hair and makeup and even pour her a glass of bubbly – all in front of the soldout crowd. Laying back on her onstage throne, she playfully asked, ‘Do they expect me to stand up for the whole show? They call me a diva... because I am’,” GateCrasher writes.

Going to show that, indeed, Mariah was dead serious when she called herself a “diva,” the report goes on to say that spies at the hotel she stayed can vouch for the impressive demands she made during her stay there. “No kidding. A spy at the Borgata told us Carey had ‘a ton of requests’ to make her hotel suite worthy of a woman who’s had more No. 1 hits than Elvis, while another insider said a total of 10 carts had to be brought out to carry in all the singer’s luggage,” the report further reads.

In all fairness, Carey’s fans respond, having worked so hard throughout her entire career and having more success than any other female artist on the scene, not to mention a voice that has yet to find a rival in current artists, maybe no one should point fingers at Mariah Carey for looking to pamper herself a bit. After all, she’s earned the right to do so, they say.
