The Rasberry Pi is a credit-card sized computer that can plug into several electronics. It’s a capable little device, but you probably didn’t know it can be used in the photography department as well.

Adafruit Industries actually held a Rasberry Pi Photography contest, and now that the winners have been announced, you’ll be stunned to see some of the best images.

The winner of the competition is Andrew Mullholland, and you can see his winning shot which impressed the judges without a shadow of doubt attached to this post. He managed to take the photograph by using a Raspberry Pi-powered concoction made out of Lego, Raspberry-Pi plus a camera module optimized to shoot panoramic images.

Photo enthusiasts were invited to shoot using Raspberry-powered cameras and then upload the results to one of the major social networks in existence using the hashtag #RPPA.

Adafruit Industries asked contestants not to post process the resulting images. However, they allowed the use of integrated Pi Camera filters like “Oil Painting.”

The winner will be awarded $314 / €234 which can be spent in the Adafruit store. The other fourteen photographers who got honorable mentions will be awarded a consolation prize of $30 / €22. Check out the gallery bellow to see the amazing photographs taken with the help of a Raspberry Pi.
