A high-performance cooler optimized for low noise operation

At the end of last year, Thermalright introduced a massive CPU cooler that went by the name of Archon and now the cooling specialist has just announced that it has revised the design of that solution to include an even larger 150mm fan.

Thermalright has dubbed this new creation the Archon Rev. A and, if we were to remove the larger fan included, we would see that the two processor coolers look almost identical.

Just like its predecessor, the new cooler was designed to deliver low operating temperatures while also emitting as little noise as possible.

As expected, one of the key features that help Thermalright's solution to achieve this goal is the 150mm fan installed that can work between 500 and 1100 RPM and has a noise output that ranges from 19 to 23 dBA.

At the highest rotation speed, the PWM controlled cooler can deliver an impressive 84CFM of airflow, which should make it quite effective even when used to chill high-performance processors with high TDPs.

Outside of the oversized fan, the Archon Rev. A relies on a series of six U-shaped heatpipes to draw the heat away from the CPU and into the heatsink.

These are linked to a nickel plated copper base that uses Thermalright's traditional convex shape, which the company states ensures the highest thermal conducting efficiency.

Outside of the heatsink and fan, the Archon Rev. A CPU cooler is also bundled together with an universal retention system, which is compatible with Intel LGA 775/ 1155/ 1156/ 1366 and AMD Socket AM2(+)/ AM3(+) sockets, a backplate and thermal paste.

When installed, the entire cooler (including fan) measures 80x115x170mm and weights around 1Kg (about 2.2 punds).

Right now, we don't know when the Archon Rev. A will make its appearance in retail stores, but Thermalright has set the recommended price at €52.90 ($72.6 US). (via TCMagazine)
