The new calendar is faster and integrates better with the revamped Mail

Yahoo Mail underwent a big and somewhat painful revamp last year as a newer version replaced the one that had been around for years now. The New Yahoo Mail promised better performance and a few other enhancements, but it also relied more on Facebook and Twitter integration.

The upgrade went smoothly enough, considering that there are hundreds of millions of Yahoo Mail users, but there were plenty of critics.

Now Yahoo is doing the same for Yahoo Calendar. Arguably a less popular product, the change is probably going to be just as controversial though, most people's first reaction to change is to reject it.

"In the coming weeks, we will be launching an all-new Yahoo! Calendar.  The new design is based on the latest version of Yahoo! Mail and has a more intuitive design with improved navigation capability," Yahoo wrote.

"We’ve been listening to your feedback and have incorporated many of our users’ suggestions in the new design," it said.

The new Yahoo Calendar comes with a brand new design that better integrates with the new Yahoo Mail, as you can see in the screenshot.

Yahoo is also promising better performance, most likely due to the rewritten interface. The interface has also gotten a few tweaks and enhancements, some buttons have been added for convenience and so on.

"New toolbar buttons to navigate between day, week, and month views; Improved month view with full event titles and all the day events; All the themes that you use with the latest version of Yahoo! Mail; Holiday calendars from 15 new countries," Yahoo listed some of the other changes.

Users should already be seeing the new Yahoo Calendar, but those that haven't gotten it yet should expect it very soon now. Yahoo also plans to unveil several new features in the short-term future.
