It probably won't be about growing crops though. Then again ...

Hollywood is not exactly known for its originality. Between remakes, reboots, sequels, prequels and titles based on anything from classic books to toy brands, movies that have to stand on their own are far and few between. So, should a movie based on FarmVille surprise anyone at this point?

Surprising or not, it may happen. Zynga has been said to be looking to expand its reach and there have been rumors of a Mafia Wars movie being talked about.

But it now seems that Zynga is looking at one of its most popular games to serve as the base of a movie. That said, a Mafia Wars movie makes some sense, most people could imagine what it would be like.

But a movie about FarmVille which is centered, well, it's entirely based on growing crops, that takes quite a bit leap of faith.

Still, it seems to be happening. At the very least, some people are talking about it.

The writers of the famed Toy Story, and other less famed titles such as Garfield and its sequel, have hinted that they're engaged with Zynga for a movie based on one of its games.

"We're in conversations with Zynga to do something with one of their brands. Can't really say too much on that front yet, but 'Old MacDonald' didn't have a factory, if you get our drift," the two writers, Alec Sokolow and Joel Cohen, said in an interview with IGN.

Don't get your hopes up (or start dreading the day) just yet, talks like this are very common in the entertainment industry and many end up going nowhere.

Hollywood is always looking for things it can turn into movies, and it has a very, very open mind about it, but even it has its limits.

What's more, FarmVille is no longer Zynga's most popular game on Facebook. However, it is the best known to the outside world, which is perhaps what Zynga and the studios are banking on.
