Many of Thecus’ network attached storages (NAS) enjoy a new firmware, version 2.03.08, which brings a handful of fixes and updates and is compatible with the Microsoft Windows 64-bit version operating systems.

For starters, the firmware adds booting log in CONF.BIN, support for USB and eSATA HFS+, SSL and TLS email notification option, and NFS client mode under SSH console. It also enables mem=4G for Atom modules and enhances message after file system check, as well as HGST Ultrastar 4 TB HDD compatibility.

Moreover, it fixes System Log exporting with empty CSV file, HDD compatibility and stability (in some cases), and XPF or HA environment fail issue. As for updates, French DOM backup wording is one of them, as well as the new versions for the following packages: e2fsprogs (1.42.6), xfsprogs (3.1.8), netatalk (2.2.4), and amba (3.5.19).

So, to update the firmware, from the dashboard go to System Management → Firmware upgrade, select and apply the downloadable firmware file, then follow the onscreen instructions.

Bear in mind that, during this process, restarting or shutting down the NAS is forbidden if the process fails (restart the process), because of the catastrophic results that could be made to the device.
