Not long after Bigfoot's Killer 2100 somehow landed inside some of Dell's Alienware desktops, Thecus Technology decided to offer a powerful Ethernet solution of its own in the shape of the C10GT, a PCI Express x4 adapter with 10Gb connectivity.

For most applications and tasks that one may engage in while using a computer, the built-in ethernet solution is more than satisfactory.

Nevertheless, there are businesses that rely heavily on having as good a connection as possible, especially those that have to deal with intense traffic.

Thus, Thecus created the C10GT which, by means of the Tehuti Luxor TN3020-D processor, can enable speeds of ten Gigabits.

“Powered by the enterprise-class Tehuti Luxor TN3020-D processor, the C10GT delivers efficient high-bandwidth access to server and storage applications, while requiring relatively low power for operation,” states the official announcement.

Mostly, the product is intended as an upgrade to the company's N7700PRO, N7700+, N8800PRO and N8800+ NAS devices.

In order to achieve its high data transfer rates, the adapter takes advantage of the bandwidth provided by the PCI Express x4 interface.

What's more, the invention is compliant with the IEEE 802.3ae, IEEE 802.3ak, and IEEE 802.1q VLAN standards.

"Next-generation 10Gb Ethernet is going to be the new standard for enterprises of the future," said Florence Shih, Thecus Technology General Manager.

"With our new C10GT, businesses can fully leverage the speed and convenience of this advanced technology today," Shih added.

The network card makes use of a dual-port design (SFP+ and CX4) and is compatible with various operating systems as well as the Windows Management Interface (WMI), which allows administrators to manage both local and remote computers.

The full list of supported operating systems includes Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Linux. Unfortunately, the Thecus C10GT has not been priced as of yet.
