Thecus has made available the 1.05.00.23 beta firmware update targeted at its N4100EVO and N2200EVO NAS servers, which improves the overall HDD compatibility while RAID rebuilding.

In order to boost up your NAS, first log into the unit’s web interface and check the currently installed firmware version so that it isn’t either newer or matching the present release. To do so, simply go to System Management > Firmware Upgrade.

If all is OK, save the downloadable file, click the “Browse” button on the Firmware Upgrade page, navigate and select the .rom file, press “Apply,” and then select “OK” at the dialog window that asks for your permission to apply the new firmware.

Bear in mind that during the installation you mustn’t turn off/ reboot the NAS or close the browser as this will interrupt the update process and can lead to serious device malfunctions. Also, doing so can even render the server unusable.

The upgrade takes about 5 minutes to complete, and while installing, a blue progress bar will be shown on your monitor, so wait patiently for the device to finish the process.

An important aspect that you should know about is that, upon completion, a proper message will be displayed that redirects your to the Reboot & Shutdown page when “OK” is pressed.

With this in mind, download Thecus N4100EVO Firmware 1.05.00.23 Beta or download Thecus N2200EVO Firmware 1.05.00.23 Beta, apply the update, and constantly check our website in order to be up to speed with the latest releases.
