He initially said his “job was to entertain” patrons, and this included stunts like this

A few days ago, word got out that one Missouri theater manager had used an actor dressed up in full tactical gear and carrying a fake gun walk in on patrons at an “Iron Man 3” premiere, which prompted many panicked 911 calls and a police intervention.

The manager, Bob Wilkins, initially said that he wasn’t sorry for having pulled such a publicity stunt even if it ended with police raiding the theater in search of the armed shooter, as the video above will confirm.

He’s had a change of heart on the topic since then. In fact, he even says that the publicity stunt was no publicity stunt at all.

“We apologize and are sympathetic to those who felt they were in harm’s way with our character promotion for ‘Iron Man 3’,” Wilkins says in a statement.

“This was not a publicity stunt. We have worked with the Cosplacon group on many movies to dress up and help entertain our customers. We have had many complaints about the members dressed specifically as S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives carrying fake guns,” he adds.

“Going forward we will take the necessary steps to make sure this doesn’t happen again. Security and safety for our customers is our number one priority,” Wilkins promises.

He’s singing an entirely different tune that he did before the incident got him so much media attention, isn’t he.
