Anonymous-affiliated hacktivists launch DDOS attacks

An Anonymous-affiliated hacktivist collective called TheWikiBoat has launched distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks on the websites of the American Nazi Party, the controversial Ku Klux Klan (KKK) organization, and Glencore International, an integrated commodities marketer and producer.

“Today we wanted to celebrate WikiBoat Wednesday with another wave of DDoS attacks. We wanted to post this press release to explain each attack of the day up to this point,” the hackers said.

The site of the KKK was “taken down because of the hate the group professes and promotes.”

The DDOS attack on the website of the extremist organization has been initiated because members of TheWikiBoat “hate all Nazis that are not UGNazis.”

Glencore on the other hand is a target of Operation New Son, a campaign launched by the hackers in April 2012 against “high corporate entities.”

The hacktivists accuse the company of violating human rights and slave labor.

“Keep an eye out, we shall be striking many targets as part of our WikiBoat Wednesday celebrations!” they concluded.

At press time, the site of the extremist party and the one of Glencore were back online, but kkk.com was still offline.

The WikiBoat group is slowly becoming known on the hacking scene. When they initiated Operation New Son, even the FBI issued a warning to alert the possible victims to the attacks that were scheduled to take place on May 25.

“The Wikiboat is home to some of the most powerful hackers, we are not a group of 1. We are a group of groups,” the group wrote on Twitter.

As far as their future plans go, the collective revealed the possibility of launching a campaign called “Wikiboat vs The Pentagon.”
