i-mate brings their latest PDA phone for everyone to enjoy. JAMA comes with several evolved
features, even if none of them reflect a breakthrough technology.
JAMA works on Windows Mobile 5, which could use
some upgrading to the latest version in order to make some serious competition for other similar devices. One thing which might earn some points is that it comes in quite small dimensions, at 106 x 52.5 x 15.6 mm and a weigh of only 110 grams. Even if not highly impressive, this makes JAMA one of the most slim and comfortable-to-use PDA phones.
The 2.4 inch TFT LCD screen will surely manage to catch the interest of several people out there, even if it comes with only 65k color performances. The fact that it uses touch screen
technology might prove to be just enough in order to win some hearts out there and bring some high functionality with the 240 x 320 pixel resolution.
The camera that JAMA comes equipped with is just on the lower line of high end mobile phones, at its 2.0 megapixel resolution. Moreover, it is also capable of video captures and playback at satisfying performances. This camera will manage to provide only average quality captures, but, on the other hand, this is not the handset's greatest quality.
"The JAMA is compact, lightweight, powerful, stylish and very competitively priced, which fits many of today's modern consumers requirements. It's your personal computer in your pocket", considers Jack Craine, General Manager MEA at i-mate.
Still, the fact that it comes with only Windows Mobile 5 installed and that it lacks 3G, might make somewhat of a turn-off for this device. One advantage that it manages to bring at best performances is that of successfully replacing a Pocket PC.
The JAMA
handset will be available for purchase starting this month. The estimated price that this handset will come at has not been specified yet.
