It has become some kind of a new tradition. In the first ten days of a month we see the list with the best apps of the previous month. These are not the apps with the highest sales or the best prices, but the apps and games that were innovative, that have an interesting interface or awesome graphics.

The App Store editors have 3 different categories for "Best of July": Best App & Game, Great Games and Amazing Apps.

Matter has won the official title of Best app for the previous month. This is the Instagram of 3D stuff. Imagine you can take a picture of whatever is in front of you and you can embed a unique 3D object into that. The object will not look like they don't belong because you can make them reflective, refractive, translucent and opaque, you can add shadows to match the environment and use the masking tools to erase portions of the object. At the end you can share that photo via Instagram to impress your friends.

Matter is $1.99 (€1.49) in the AppStore and it works both with your iPhone and your iPad.

The Best Game for July 2014 is Modern Combat 5: Blackout. This First Person Shooter raises the bar on iOS once again. Your mission os to create a squad, add your friends and then go fight other squads or play as an individual. The app requires iPad 2 or newer and iPhone 4s or newer to render the amazing graphics.

But the games selection doesn't stop here. There are 25 different games that were launched in July and made it on the list. A good chunk of those are free, but the prices go up to $14.99 (€11.19) for a masterpiece like Civilization Revolution 2 or Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. You might wanna pay the price of admission for these two games because there are no other hidden costs and no in-app purchase options after you buy.

The apps selection is just as amazing. There were some great new apps launched in July and some awesome new updates as well. Take Wunderlist, for example. The new 3.0 update brings the long-awaited  interface change that takes the app to iOS 7 and adds some new features.

Overcast is one of the best new podcast players. In a market crowded with similar apps, where even Apple has its own, Overcast made it on the list because of features like Voice Boost and Smart Speed. Newly redesigned apps like Airbnb and Yahoo News are just as good and worth checking out.

Feel free to check them all and download your favorites from the "Best of July" now.
