The next video console Nintendo will be launched in 2006

According to Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Xbox 360 should not fear the competition until next year when Nintendo will launch its new video game console.

The information was not confirmed by Nintendo officials, but, also, there is no officially date set for the launch.
If Nintendo maintains its intention to launch the new console sometimes next year, then they will miss the holiday shopping season, when the new Xbox 360 will be available in stores.

The Nihon Keizai said it obtained the information from Nintendo on Friday, without citing sources. Nintendo has not officially set a date for its next generation console, code-named "Revolution," although a 2006 launch has been widely expected.

The new console form Nintendo called Revolution, will be powered by a chip developed by IBM code-named "Broadway" and a graphics processor from ATI Technologies Inc. code-named "Hollywood."Also, Revolution will be ready for wireless Internet gaming and, more important, will be backward compatible with the current generation GameCube.

On the other hand, Microsoft did not announce a price for its new console, and this may be an advantage for Nintendo and Playstation 3.

Sony is almost in the same situation as Nintendo, and nobody knows when the company plans to release its next-generation console, called for the moment PS3.
More news about Nintendo and the other game console, Playstation 3 from Sony, are expected at E3 Expo.
