Did you get yours?

The Christmas is only a few steps behind and most of us got some sort of present, I am sure of that. If we were happy of not, that's not an analyst's business, but what we got, that's more like it! So... what did you get? I didn't get an iPod yet, and I probably won't get one anytime soon, but maybe an iPhone (excuse me, "iMobile", I heard that this should be the new name of Apple's mobile phone)... well, let's leave rumors aside now and talk about verified facts, shall we?

For the third consecutive holiday season, the iPod was the Christmas gift to have, and this led to an amazing increase of traffic on Apple's website, as well as the iTunes site and music store, according to a Web metrics firm. This should be a surprise, since all the new iPod owners had to get their music from somewhere, and even if you own an impressive collection of audio CDs, ripping them on Christmas Day is not the best thing to do, when you can easily buy them from a website.

Do you want to hear numbers? Compared to last year's Christmas Day, Apple's site traffic increased with 413%, according to Hitwise, while visits to the Apple Store were 110% higher. OK, OK, but what about the Zune?

Zune.net, Microsoft's competitor to iTunes, had 1,030% more visitors on Christmas Day compared to the previous Monday, the 18th of December, but in the same period, iTunes visitors number increased with 1,222%, outnumbering Zune.net's visitors by a 30 to 1 ratio.

No matter what people think, the iPod is the king, but you don't have to be sad if you didn't get one yet, there will be plenty of occasions to get yours in the future.
