The iPhone Becomes a Turntable with MixMeister Scratch

- 'The original DJ machine for iPhone and iPod Touch'

By: Filip Truta, Apple News Editor

As engadget.com themselves reckon, we still have a long way to go as far as scratching iPhone/iPod touch apps go, as MixMeister Scratch is only the first shy step in this direction. It promises a lot though, bearing in mind that MicMeister hasn't yet finished the app, with just a small set of samples being showcased and simple wi-wu scratching that sounds pretty much the same with every sample.

The interface, however, looks pretty neat. What's probably going to get this app on many iPhone/iPod touch units is the fact that it allows you to scratch on top of your own tunes.

Dubbed "THE ORIGINAL DJ SCRATCH TOOL FOR iPod Touch
AND iPhone," MixMiester Scratch lets users "perform a scratch anywhere, anytime – even right on top of any song in your iPod Touch or iPhone," MixMeister reveals. The developers say it is both easy to use and fun, and they're not lying – just watch the video below.

To get started on MixMeister Scratch – "the original DJ machine for iPhone and iPod Touch" – users must first just choose from a list of included vinyl scratch sounds. Then... well, you start scratching. That's all there is to it! Imagine finding yourself at a party with a couple of MixMeister Scratch-enabled friends. As soon as you plug in your devices, you'll get some serious attention.

"Scratch on top of your favorite tracks by selecting music to play from your iPod or iPhone. Then load MixMeister Scratch while the music plays and you can scratch on top of your music and adjust volume of the music in real-time using the touch interface," the description goes.

Key Features include preset vinyl scratch sounds to choose from, scratching on top of any existing song on your iPod Touch or iPhone, volume control from within MixMeister Scratch and perhaps others to come. MixMeister.com says that it works with all firmware versions (jailbroken ones we presume).

If you're looking forward to get this thing up and running on your device, just fill in a simple form on MixMeister's web site and you'll be notified when it becomes available.

Here's the video demonstration below.
