Qool Labs Pte Ltd, a company from Singapore which produces LifeStyle Digital devices, announced last week the first multimedia player with OLED screen. Presented as the viewing solution of the future because of the efficiency of LEDs, the Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) technology is included for the first time into a portable multimedia device, entitled QMP2210RX.

This model is the smallest Multimedia Player to include a TV signal receiver, but also video playback functions. The device has a 2.2 inch OLED which displays excellent colors compared to the usual capabilities of these LEDs. In this way, QMP2210RX is capable of generating up to four times more colors than other OLED displays on the market, surpassing the performances of TV receivers or current LCD displays.

Users have the possibility of directly recording and viewing TV programs without cables being connected; the device also supports the MPEG4 video format, allowing the transfer of video content from the computer to this portable device.

If until recently, replacing LCD-TFT classic screens with OLED seemed impossible because of the limited number of colors OLED was able to display, once the QMP2210RX model has been released, the situation changes dramatically. The model produces its own light in the form of electroluminescence, and the display offers a clearer and brighter image than the one of classic LCDs.

The display doesn't need tuning, and changing the viewing angle to get a perfect image is no longer necessary, QMP2210RX being able to display the same clear and luminous image regardless of the angle. The refresh rate of the image is three times bigger than the one required by the video standard and the moving objects are displayed clearly and without shadows.

The display also has small power consumption, requiring a quarter of the usual power consumption, and the lifespan of the battery is double. USB 2.0 ensures the QMP2210RX fast transfer rate, and portability is this player's biggest advantage, the model only weighing 148 grams.
