Melody Thomas Scott aka Nikki Newman from “The Young and the Restless” will be making another boozy appearance on a hit TV show, this time in the sitcom “The Crazy Ones” with Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar, it has been confirmed.

The actress, who is about to celebrate her 35th year on the long-running but still incredibly popular soap opera, finds the situation hilarious because she’s about to star as a “boozy librarian” on the sitcom, TV Guide reports.

She explains for the trade publication that she had initially auditioned for another part, for which producers deemed her too young.

“They thought Robin and I would play off each other well, so they created a role for me in a different episode. It's a great character and not at all glamorous like Nikki. This poor girl is really trying to be [hot] but she's just not cutting it — and she has no qualms about pulling out her flask during library hours,” the actress tells the mag of her character.

She jokes that producers must have seen her cameo on “My Name Is Earl” to have felt inspired to create another boozing character just for her. “I guess it's never too late to be typecast!,” she laughs.

On a more serious note, the TV icon says it was so “surreal” to work with Williams and Gellar that the cameo hasn’t even sunk in yet with her. It will probably do so in mid-April, which is when the episode airs.
