Aaron Greenberg shares his views on the matter

The Xbox 360 is quite a popular console these days, managing to stem the growth of its Arch rival, the PlayStation 3, and still keep chasing the runaway success that was the Nintendo Wii. But now the PS3 has gotten a price cut, which puts it on par with the most recent Xbox 360 version.

Also, as the PS3 received a new iteration in the PS3 Slim, rumors already started flying about a hardware revamp of the Microsoft console, a presumed Xbox 360 Slim. Speaking in a recent statement, Aaron Greenberg, the director of product management for the Xbox 360, revealed just what was his company's stance on a new Xbox 360 and how it viewed the console in the present.

“We feel like our system has done very well for us in the current form,” Greenberg said. “We have no plans for a slim.” All fine and dandy but the executive wants to emphasize this point and even highlights the fact that we haven't even reached the halfway point in the lifecycle of the Xbox 360.

“We feel that we're not even at the halfway point of the Xbox 360's life cycle,” he said. “That is something we believe in strongly. People have invested in these consoles, and we have massively connected communities and we have storage. I think what we did with the New Xbox Experience is a sign of what we want to do with the console. The Xbox 360 has plenty of future.”

We heard at the beginning of the year from Microsoft that this console generation would be the longest and with new hardware revamps and new features incorporated through firmware updates we will certainly have a lot of things to look forward to. Hopefully the competition between the three large manufacturers will bring the most benefits to the end user.
