A hostel in Amsterdam, the Netherlands is using reverse psychology on potential customers, promoting their venue as the worst hotel you could possibly stay at. Check out their video commercial, which has been airing since 2007.

The Hans Brinker Budget Hotel marketing strategy is quite unusual, but nothing short of genius. Their promotional taglines, relayed by the Daily Mail, read: “It can't get any worse. But we'll do our best,” “Improve your immune system - stay at Hans Brinker!” or the hilarious ”Now with beds in every room.”

Travelers on a budget can enjoy their atrocious treatment for a mere $28 (£18 / €22.5), but they do have to share a room with complete strangers.

If tourists aren't pleased with their accommodation, hotel managers can honestly say their guests were warned in advance:

“Those wishing to stay at the Hans Brinker Budget Hotel, Amsterdam, do so at their own risk and will not hold the hotel liable for food poisoning, mental breakdowns, terminal illness, lost limbs, radiation poisoning, certain diseases associated with the 18th century, plague, etc.,” the disclaimer on their website reads.
