Partisan, an action RPG planned for a Q4 release

Whoa, I am so excited: another WWII-based game is going to be released this year! I was starting to miss the announcements that sounded like: "revolutionary game, intuitive gameplay, great story. It's World War II..." and nothing else matters, if Metallica doesn't mind. Anyway... this particular game we're talking about now had the decency not to consider itself revolutionary, so we might as well give it a chance. At least it promises quite some fun hours, so that is a strong enough reason to ignore the story.

Partisan is its name and it is going to be published by Greek hell-tech sometime during the 4th Quarter of 2008. Described as a heroic action-based RPG set during the World War II, the game comes with a rather interesting story: our hero is a former Red Army captain demoted during prewar repressions that finds himself on the frontline, surrounded by enemies. Outnumbered and out-gunned, he sees his battalion being destroyed by the German forces and the few survivors captured. Therefore, he will begin a quest - a bloody test, as you can already imagine - to liberate his comrades, reveal the mysteries of a secret weapon and foil the enemy's plans.

As you can see, even though the story is not a very original one, at least it kind of stays away from the WWII clich?. Apart from that, it comes with some great new features, or at least promises to bring them. For example, we will have bits of tactical thinking to do while we blast our way through the infested territories, command small groups of allies and feel the action as we never did. In order to achieve this, we will have the option to complete different types of missions, ranging from violent street fights to stealth operations. Uhm... street fights in the WWII?

The game will bring, together with the well known weapons that were used back then, a set of new and experimental guns - so you might not get the feeling that you already tried everything when you will start playing the game. So, after all, it might not be such a bad game as I thought in the beginning. Guess we'll see exactly in the fourth quarter of 2008.
