Microsoft is getting ready to kick up a notch the interaction model associated with Xbox 360 consoles through what the company is calling a natural user interface. Mid-June 2010 will bring with it the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2010 (E3 Expo 2010), but also the World Premiere of Project Natal. And for the World Premiere of Project Natal, Microsoft has tapped Cirque du Soleil, promising a unique live performance.

At the same time, the Redmond company announced that it had inked a partnership with MTV Networks, a division of Viacom, to have the World Premiere of Project Natal broadcast live. According to the Redmond company, the Cirque du Soleil Project Natal show is scheduled to air on MTV on Tuesday, June 15 at 3:30 p.m. EDT, and on Nick at Nite, mtvU, MTV Hits and Logo on Tuesday, June 15, at 9 p.m. EDT. The performance would be commercial-free, the software giant noted.

“We look forward to making entertainment history again at E3 Expo 2010 and can’t think of a better partner than MTV Networks to exclusively share our news, experiences and Cirque du Soleil’s amazing creativity with an entirely new audience,” Don Mattrick, senior vice president, Interactive Entertainment Business, Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft, revealed.

“Project Natal is one of the most exciting new product launches of the year, and MTV Networks is the perfect partner to bring this one-of-a-kind event from Xbox and Cirque du Soleil to its viewers and passionate gamers and all across the country,” Rich Eigendorff, chief operating officer, MTV Networks, added.

Xbox 360 owners looking to get an insight into Project Natal will be able to tune in to the Xbox 360 E3 Media Briefing on Monday, June 14, at 1:30 p.m. EDT. Microsoft promises that the briefing will offer gamers a preview of Xbox 360’s future. Project Natal, an NUI interaction model that allows gamers to use objects and gestures in order to play, will be available to Xbox 360 console owners ahead of the 2010 holiday season.
