The long awaited, especially by role playing fans, Enhanced Edition of The Witcher is at last getting a tentative release date from its developers, the guys over at CD Project RED. It seems that September has been settled on and, more specifically, the game will be launched in the first half of the month, as soon as the complete translation into the ten languages it will support is complete.

CD Project are really hoping to offer gamers a totally new and interesting experience when getting The Witcher Enhanced Edition. The game DVD of the new release will be accompanied by a video DVD which details the way the game was initially built and then, re-built. Gamers also get a bonus DVD containing two new adventures which are not part of the story line, called "The price of neutrality" and "Side effect". There's also an adventure editor, called D'jinni, that will offer interested players the option of designing their own adventures by using the game engine. Finally, the Enhanced Edition comes complete with a CD featuring the game soundtrack and another with music inspired by the gameplay.

The Witcher was one of the most interesting videogame surprises of last year. It provided a fresh take on the role playing genre, being based on a fantasy world created by a Polish writer. The atmosphere was more mature then that of, let's say BioWare, role playing games, touching upon issues like absolute power and its effects on morality while also portraying the romantic links of the main character rather graphically.

When launched last year, the game dealt with engine glitches and poor translation. CD Project were surprised by the success of the game, so they decided to re-construct it in an Enhanced Edition which is getting closer to its release date.
