14 DAY TRIAL // CD Projekt is still working on the third installment in Witcher series and they should, as the game has been slated for a May 2015 release, so there’s still time for developers to polish and fix any bugs.
The game will be released on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 19, and while CD Projekt already confirmed The Witcher 3’s system requirements for the PC version, console owners did not know how much space on their HDDs the game will need.
Well, not any more, as PlayStation Store has just cleared the mystery, so PlayStation 4 owners will know how much storage the game is supposed to eat and plan accordingly.
Considering PlayStation 4 comes with a 500GB HDD, those who own multiple triple A titles will probably not be able to store more than 15 titles on their console, not to mention that they won’t have any space for any indie games.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will need no less than 50GB HDD on PlayStation 4, which is more than what The Order: 1886 and Assassin’s Creed: Unity require.
This seems to be one of the largest games launched on PlayStation 4, but since 30-45GB titles have become the norm for triple A games, The Witcher 3 will probably be joined on top by others as well.
The retail version will need 50GB available space as well
Keep in mind that even if you purchase The Witcher 3 retail version, the game will require the same amount of available space. The disk will only serve for installation purposes and after that it will only be required to authentication.
However, installing the game from a disk is clearly a much quicker way than to download the digital version, especially for those with low speed Internet connections.
On a side note, Xbox One version should require the same amount of available space, but the information hasn’t been confirmed yet.
