14 DAY TRIAL // Developer CD Projekt RED released a fresh batch of screenshots from the upcoming role-playing game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, showcasing the game's impressive visuals once more.
The new screens were revealed at the Igromir Expo in Moscow, Russia, and show once more why everyone is so excited about the upcoming entry in the popular fantasy series, based on the books written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, following the adventures of Geralt of Rivia.
The developer informed that the third installment in the series will feature a living, open world larger than any other RPG to date, touting it as "up to 30 times larger" than those of previous episodes, and boasting that the game will be "20 percent bigger than Skyrim," a game that the development team admires deeply and hopes to dethrone.
More engaging gameplay mechanics
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will explore a new and personal mission that Geralt embarks on, as a mysterious force known as the Wild Hunt invades the land, soaking everything in the blood of the innocent.
Players will have to take on over 80 different enemies, with deep gameplay mechanics designed to offer a challenging and satisfying user experience. Each of the monsters will have its own AI and set of special moves, and some of them will be influenced by the night and day cycle, just like how werewolves would gain tremendous power while bathed in the light of the full moon.
In addition to this, the lush, living world that you will be able to explore will be filled with choices to make, and your actions will sometimes have a dramatic impact on the course of events.
Furthermore, given the sheer size of the world, gamers will be able to travel by horseback and even use boats for sailing between the different locales that the story will take them to.
The new images herald an exciting adventure
The first thing that strikes you about the game is the level of visual polish, as the next-gen-only role-playing game is a stunning achievement in graphics quality, just like previous entries were at their time.
The images highlight the beautiful, cinematic vistas that you'll experience throughout your journey, and show some of the enemies that you'll come to face while guiding Geralt along his path.
From a soldier grooming his horse, to fending off a pack of feral wolves in the snow, or even standing his own against a manticore, Geralt's adventures explore a world of amazing visual depth, with rich backgrounds and detailed inhabitants, providing an experience that is more immersive than ever before.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is scheduled to come out on February 24, 2015, after having been pushed back from Q4 2014. The role-playing game will be available on PC, the PlayStation 4 home console from Sony, and the Xbox One computer entertainment system from Microsoft.
