14 DAY TRIAL // The development team at CD Projekt RED might have announced yet another delay for their upcoming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, but they will certainly make fans happy by announcing that the much talked about second playable character included in the title is Ciri.
The studio says that it will allow gamers to switch between the two at certain critical points in the story and that the moments when gamers assume control of the newly revealed protagonist will be some of the most important in the entire narrative.
Ciri is the ashen-haired girl referred to in an ancient prophecy and last descendant of an elven lineage.
She has a strong connection to Geralt and the Wild Hunt is chasing her just as the powerful Nilfgaard Empire has also become interested in finding out more about her.
The character has been previously described as a living weapon that will try to escape control from anyone and will use her power against anyone she sees as threatening.
It seems that in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Ciri will be faster and more agile then gamers are accustomed to and will also have access to a special power linked to her legacy.
Robert Malinowski from CD Projekt RED states, "Ciri is playable only during certain moments in the game - we introduce her to give gamers another perspective in the story to make it even more engaging. You won’t play as her for long periods of time, but since she’s crucial to the plot, we thought that additional insight will allow gamers to better bond with this cool character."
He also says that Geralt remains the most important character in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and that he will be the one to decide the way the world around him will evolve.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt needs more time for polish
CD Projekt RED has said that it has pushed the ambitious open world role-playing title back to May of 2015 from its initial March launch date in order to make sure that it can deliver the level of quality that the fan community is expecting.
Ciri seems to have been part of the narrative from the start, so there's no link between the pushback of the launch date and the reveal of her role.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt aims to bring the world of the books to life with more areas that can be explored and a new combat system showcasing the best moves Geralt can deliver.
