The new title won't confuse those who didn't play the first two games in the series

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is going to seem like a standalone game for newcomers, according to developer CD Projekt Red, which tried to quell the fears of those who didn't get to play The Witcher 1 and 2.

By far one of the most anticipated RPGs of next year is The Witcher 3, with developer CD Projekt Red promising an epic conclusion to the trilogy of games that focus on protagonist Geralt of Rivia.

However, seeing as how The Witcher 1 appeared only on PC and The Witcher 2 made its debut both on PC and the Xbox 360, there are worries about not understanding the whole story from PS4 owners, for example.

While speaking with PSLS, CD Projekt Red's Miles Tost has emphasized that those who missed out on the first two games shouldn't worry about not making sense of The Witcher 3.

"By the way, if you’re afraid that you won’t get what’s happening in the game without playing the first two games, you may stop worrying now — for newcomers, Wild Hunt will seem like a totally standalone game."

Tost also mentions that, right now, there are no plans of re-releasing previous The Witcher games on new consoles, as the studio has a limited set of resources that can't be stretched to cover such projects.

"At this particular moment in time, there are no plans to re-release previous Witcher games on the PlayStation. We’re also a bit bummed that it took us so long to release a Witcher game on the PlayStation but we’re a quality-comes-first studio and releasing The Witcher 2 on three platforms was above our technical capabilities back then. We chose Xbox because of the less complicated architecture (The Witcher 2 was our first console game). Things are different with the PlayStation 4," he explains.

The combat system in The Witcher 3 also doesn't require previous knowledge about past games in the series, as the title will quickly show players how to brawl in its opening sequences.

"I think the fact we revamped the combat system will ensure that no transition is needed. You’ll just sit with the game, and it will teach you how to play, and leave you alone when you’re ready to devise your own tactics. It’s easy to understand for newcomers but definitely has a lot of room for experienced gamers to exploit and really show off their skills."

The Witcher 3 is set to come out in February of 2015 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms worldwide.
