The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the long awaited role-playing game from CD Projekt Red has just been delayed, as the studio has decided to take some extra time to polish the title and now predicts a February, 2015 release for it.

The Witcher 3 was revealed last year to the world as the closing chapter to the trilogy of games focusing on protagonist Geralt of Rivia, bringing his story to an epic conclusion and delivering an open world role-playing experience.

After seeing quite a lot of different details about the title, not to mention various gameplay sequences and impressions, CD Projekt Red has made a rather surprising announcement, as it has just pushed back the release of the RPG into next year.

The Witcher 3 was initially set to appear sometime in 2014, but now the studio has confirmed on Facebook that the title is going to appear in February of 2015.

"We recently reexamined what we had achieved thus far, and faced a choice about the game’s final release date. The decision we made was difficult, thoroughly considered, and ultimately clear and obvious," the studio said.

"We could have released the game towards the end of this year as we had initially planned. Yet we concluded that a few additional months will let us achieve the quality that will satisfy us, the quality gamers expect from us."

The studio has emphasized that the final version of the game will more than live up to the expectation of fans from all around the world, especially since the extra months will be spent on improving the already-great mechanics and features built into it.

"Dear gamers - we know many of you would have liked to play The Witcher 3 sooner, as soon as possible, even. We’re sorry to make you wait longer than you, or we, initially assumed you would. At the same time, we believe the game will prove to be worth the wait and meet the expectations you have of us. We believe The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be an exceptional RPG, one of the best, providing many hours of wonderful entertainment."

As such, don't expect to hear any other big details about The Witcher 3 anytime soon. Even so, CD Projekt Red might certainly offer new things or pieces of information during the big gaming conventions of this year, like E3 2014 in June or Gamescom 2014 in August.
