The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the next role-playing game in the series made by CD Projekt Red, won't see a downgrade in terms of visuals made ahead of launch, despite rumors that surfaced online after the latest batch of screenshots was released.

The Witcher 3 is one of the most anticipated games of early 2015, with millions of franchise fans looking forward to seeing the final chapter in the adventures of protagonist Geralt of Rivia, as well as how CD Projekt Red can again dazzle the audience with content and mechanics.

So far, the hype of the new RPG has been really good, thanks to stellar videos and screenshots released by the Polish studio, showing The Witcher 3 in action.

Recent screenshots didn't look that good

However, recent screenshots that were presented during a special convention in Russia didn't look all that great, especially when it came to the wolves that you can see in the image above.

Immediately, the rumor mill started churning, with some speculating that CD Projekt Red had begun downgrading the visuals of the upcoming RPG so that it could be achieved on current platforms. Others fought back, saying that the images might be from the PS4 or Xbox One versions of the game, while previous ones came from the PC edition that's supposed to be the best-looking.

CD Projekt Red settles the matter and promises no downgrade

In order to quell the fears of fans and to ensure that people don't get the wrong idea, CD Projekt Red Community Manager Marcin Momot explains, in a statement to WorldsFactory, that the game is still in development and that things are constantly changing. However, the studio won't make any downgrade in terms of the visuals promised through existing screenshots or videos.

"Please keep in mind that the game is still in production phase. Certain things are still being worked on. The final version of the game will look better than what can be seen in the latest screenshots – no matter the platform," he says.

"As you probably know, when publishing screenshots, some of them can be subjectively less appealing than others (depending on one’s opinion), that’s perfectly normal. The most important thing here is that the game will come out looking gorgeous when we are done working on it. There will be no downgrade."

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is set to debut in February of next year for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, so you can expect CD Projekt Red to keep working and polishing the RPG experience until we get closer to that date. Expect to see more screenshots and videos until then.
