The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developer CD Projekt Red has once again stepped forward to defend the visuals of the upcoming role-playing game, this time after cries of a graphics downgrade swept the community following the release of the new Elder Blood trailer.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the most anticipated games of the next year, as Polish studio CD Projekt Red has already showcased many different videos and screenshots with the impressive role-playing experience, while sharing details about what adventures await the main protagonist, Geralt of Rivia.

Over the weekend and yesterday, quite a few different new things concerning The Witcher 3 appeared, starting with a fresh trailer and continuing with the confirmation that there would be a second playable protagonist, which appeared in the aforementioned trailer.

CD Projekt Red once again denies any graphics downgrade

After confirming that the game's debut has been pushed back to May, CD Projekt Red is now stepping forward to defend the visuals of the new title after fans complained that the video didn’t look all that impressive.

According to the studio's North American PR representative, who has talked with fans on the official forums, the new trailer wasn't initially scheduled to be released at this time, but due to the fact that the game won the most anticipated distinction at The Game Awards, the studio saw fit to throw together a small trailer.

Unfortunately, the short time period meant that the whole thing was rushed and this resulted in a poor compression of the whole experience, which displayed less than impressive visuals in the YouTube video.

"We initially didn't have a new video scheduled for release at this time. The game team is finishing the game, Christmas is coming and January & February will be very busy, so there wasn't a video scheduled to be made. Then, we learned we were nominated for Most Anticipated Game at the VGAs, which we won," he explains.

"So a decision was made to create a video to show at the VGAs (whether we won or lost). The video team did a fantastic job getting a video put together in the time-frame they had to make the show's deadline. However, it was not compressed to the correct rate and did not look as good on YouTube as it does in the actual game."

A new version of the video will be shared soon

The representative also confirms that, in order to avoid any speculations about a graphics downgrade, CD Projekt Red will recompile the video and upload a new version in the near future, so that fans can admire the footage in all its glory.

For now, you can once again watch the compressed video below.
