The RPG will see delayed updates launch on PS4 and Xbox One

CD Projekt Red confirms that all of its future updates for The Witcher 3 will appear first on PC and then later on consoles like PS4 or Xbox one due to the certification process required by Sony and Microsoft, so fans shouldn't get upset about the release of the patches.

The Witcher 3 launched last week across PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and immediately got at launch two big updates, taking it to version 1.02. Last week, patch 1.03 appeared on PC and at the beginning of the week another one released, taking the game to version 1.04.

After a bit of waiting, PS4 and Xbox One users got update 1.03 a short while ago and, so far, patch 1.04's release is still unclear for the two consoles.

The studio cares about consoles but can't avoid certification

In order to avoid any criticism from players, CD Projekt Red emphasizes on its forums that patches for The Witcher 3 will always appear later on PS4 or Xbox One due to the certification process required by Sony and Microsoft.

However, this doesn't mean that the studio doesn't care about fans on those platforms. It's still working hard on addressing glitches and feedback sent by fans, so expect a steady flow of updates.

"Unfortunately it takes longer to release patches on consoles than on PC. Simply because of the certification process. We are already working on addressing a lot more issues gamers sent over to us in the next patch while the upcoming update is awaiting approval. Apologies if you felt that we didn't listen to you," the studio's Marcin Momot tells fans.

While the updates appear with a staggered release schedule, the planned free DLC packs do launch at the same time across all the platforms. The latest batch of add-ons, which includes a new look for Yennefer and a new mission called Missing Miners, has just went live across PC, PS4, and Xbox One earlier today.
