The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the long-awaited role-playing experience from Polish studio CD Projekt Red, has just received a brand new gameplay video called Elf Blood, which showcases even more footage from the new title, and the studio also confirms that there will be a second playable character besides Geralt of RIvia.

The Witcher 3 launches in February, and the franchise's millions of fans have been eagerly awaiting more details about the RPG for quite some time. While CD Projekt Red has shared quite a few pieces of info during different large gaming events, such as E3 2014 or Gamescom 2014, in recent months things have been silent, as without a doubt the team is entering the final stretch of the development process.

Even so, the Polish studio has managed to make an appearance at the recent The Game Awards ceremony, where The Witcher 3 got the Most Anticipated of 2015 reward.

A new trailer is available

In honor of this distinction, a brand new trailer has just been revealed for the upcoming RPG, called Elf Blood, which shows a brand new and quite imposing enemy that Geralt of Rivia will have to take down. This time, it seems that the creature uses ice powers and can bring destruction quite easily to the world of the game.

Besides featuring the new monster, the trailer also showcases Geralt, the main protagonist, in all his glory, fighting alongside different allies or by himself against many different foes.

A second playable character is included in the game

At the Game Awards, CD Projekt Red also mentioned that, besides Geralt, a second playable character would be present in the story campaign, but the studio declined to say just who it might be. The only tidbit of information is that the character appears in the new trailer.

Besides Geralt, the video features two lovely female characters, in the form of Ciri and Yennefer, but also another man who can hold his own against the monsters while working alongside Geralt.

Ciri, in the game's universe, has been trained by Geralt to also kill monsters, so it's possible that she might also be controlled by players. However, the sorceress Yennefer could also be a potential candidate, as her magic-based abilities can provide a change of pace from the swords wielded by Geralt or Ciri.

Expect an official announcement next year, as we get closer to the release of The Witcher 3 onto the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on February 24.
